Travel Tips: Travel Vaccinations

No one likes getting sick on vacation.  And sometimes you can get really sick if you don’t take adequate precautions.  Here are some links to find the information to give yourself the best chance of coming home in good health.

The websites referenced below will provide you with information on which vaccinations you need, and the next step is to see your doctor to discuss options to obtain the vaccinations.  Some vaccinations require 2-3 injections over a period of 3-6 months to complete the course, whilst others only require a single injection.  You should book an appointment with your doctor as soon as you have finalised your travel plans to put together a vaccination plan for your specific destination.

Vaccination Starting Point

If you only want to read one website to obtain information about health risks and vaccinations recommended and required for your trip, I recommend the UK site National Travel Health Network and Centre as the best presented comprehensive information.

Vaccinations should be recorded in the yellow International Vaccination Record Book as the official record of vaccinations you have received.  Ensure you get a yellow book started to record all of your vaccinations.
